2004-2005

The Third Grade Team was granted a Food For Thought Grant entitled " Seating for 130: Marketing and More" from the Wake Education Partnership.The funds were used to purchase materials to create birdhouses and All-Star Kid key chains. The third graders marketed and sold the products to earn funds to pay for a good and service--a tour of the Olive Garden and lunch! The grant also paid for transportation to and from the Olive Garden.

The goal of this grant was to provide real-life, hands on experience with economics. Third graders studied marketing, business, profits/losses, budgeting, supply and demand. Then, they put all of their research to work to advertise their product and create a product they thought would sell well to the students, parents and teachers of Forestville Road.

The third grade team wish to thank Wake Education Partnership and the Olive Garden for a wonderful experience.They also wish to thank the parents and staff who supported their project!
