Introduction

Have you ever wondered what your community was like before it became a town? Who lived here first? What events happened to bring growth? Can you imagine what it was like to live without today’s tools. Discover the answers to all of these questions and more as you look at the past.

 



The Task

You will be asked to research the community of Knightdale and create a brochure. Information to be included will be:

·        Who were the first settlers

·        Who founded Knightdale

·        Who was it name after

·        What year was it founded

·        What were some of the first businesses in the town

·        How did early settlers make a living

·        What events caused Knightdale to become a town

·        What tragic event destroyed the downtown business area

·        Label Knightdale on a  Wake county map

·        List the current community leaders of Knightdale

·        How has technology changed life in Knightdale

Your project will also include a timeline of important events in the History of Knightdale.



The Process

·        Open the Internet Activity Sheet.

·        Select “File “

·        Choose “Edit with Microsoft Office Word”

·        Using one of the websites type your answers on the Internet Activity Sheet.

·        Remember to save your work in your home directory

After answering all of the questions, Save and Print out a copy of the Internet Activity Sheet.

Take your Internet Activity Sheet to the computer lab where you will use it to create a brochure.

You will be graded on the successful completion of the Internet Activity Sheet, your Brochure and timeline.

By looking at the past, your have seen how communities depend on change to grow.
