Visitor
Passes
| Safety
must always be our first priority! For this reason, all visitors
must report directly to
the office to
receive
a visitor
pass before
going anywhere in the building. In the office, visitors will be
issued a Visitor’s Pass, which should be worn at all times
while in the building. Visitors will also be asked to sign in upon
their arrival and sign out when leaving. Staff members will be
instructed to stop all adults without visitor badges or WCPSS employee
identification badges and ask them to check by the office to register
before going any further. This procedure is essential for the safety
of our children. In order to protect visitors, it is also important
that we know who is in the building at all times in case of an
emergency. |

Identification
These
measures apply at all times--before, during, and after school hours--except
when there are large gatherings such as PTA meetings.
- Staff
members wear ID badges.
- Cafeteria
workers and WCPSS maintenance workers will wear uniforms.
- Parents
and all other visitors to campus will sign in at the office
and receive a visitor's pass. Exceptions
are parents of children in Early Arrival who may go into the
cafeteria only with their children prior to 8:45 a.m.
- All
WCPSS elementary schools have the INTELLIKEY system installed.
Entry doors will be locked and require a passkey for entry.

Transportation
Change
in transportation
| If
a child goes home by a different form of transportation,
it is mandatory that parents send a written note or call
the school office. Otherwise, the child must go home by
his/her usual form of transportation. Sending a verbal
message by the child is not allowed due to safety concerns.
Notify the school by 2:00 PM of changes in transportation,
unless an emergency dictates that you contact us with transportation
change after 2:00 PM. |

Riding
home with a friend
Sometimes,
parents request that their student ride home with a friend
for special events. When seats are available, we will
seek to honor parents’ requests. Students cannot
go home on a bus to which they are not assigned, even
with parental
consent, unless parents send a note requesting
a change in school bus assignment.
The requesting parent and the host parent each must
send a note to their child’s
teacher requesting the change in transportation for the visiting student.
This request should be made at least two days in advance
of the desired date for
the change. The note should include the name and phone
numbers of both children involved,
parents phone numbers, color of bus the guest child will ride, the date of
the bus ride, date of the request, and parent signature.
Teachers will forward both
notes to the assistant principal who will contact Eastern Wake County Bus
Transportation to verify seat availability before approving
the request. Parents will be contacted
if seats are not available.

Students Arriving
Late or Leaving Early
When
it is necessary for a child to arrive at school after the 9:15
start time, a parent must accompany the child to the office to
sign the tardy log. A parent must sign out any child who needs
to leave before the end of the school day at 3:45 p.m. We know
that it is sometimes necessary to schedule doctor or dental appointments
during the school day. When it is possible please make them for
after school hours so that your child's instructional day is
not interrupted.
If someone other than the parent has permission to pick up a child, parents
must write a note to the office through the classroom teacher. A child
will not be allowed to leave school with anyone other than his/her parents
unless we have received a note, signed by a parent, stating the name
of the person who has permission to pick up the child, and the date for
the dismissal. "Anyone other than his/her parents" includes
all family members. In an emergency situation, we may accept a phone
call from a parent, but keep in mind that we will need to verify the
call, which may considerably delay the release of the student.
