Nocturnal Animals

and is based upon the Northside ISD Science Curriculum. The WebQuest was
modified by Sharon Hart and is based upon the North Carolina Standard Course of Study

Desert Teacher Page

Most desert animals are nocturnal or active at night when the temperature is cooler. Some desert animals are diurnal or active during the day. Desert animals have adapted to life in the deserts. Adaptations are characteristics that plants and animals have that help them to survive or changes a plant or animal makes to fit new conditions or new environments

Look and listen to learn how these desert animals survive in the desert.

 

Discover the:

§         class or group of animal it is

§         covering is on its body

§         where it makes its home

§         food it wants to eat

§         enemies that hurt it

§         adaptations these animals have

You will work with a partner and take notes on a desert animal. The first student will complete the top portion of the Research Field Guide while the second student will work on the bottom portion of the page. Be sure to take research notes in your English Desert Research Field Guide.

  • Click on the links to see a Powerpoint slide with research information.
  • Click on the speaker located to the left to hear the words read to you.
  • Click on the picture of the animal to go to a picture and more information on each animal.
  • Click on the back button to come back to this page.
  • Once you have completed notes for your section, turn your paper over and draw a picture of your animal on the back of the notes page.
